The Halloween costume Jay Banks received from members of Fire Station No. 11 in Madison County, Wednesday, is one he won’t be able to use for at least a year, but it’s one he won’t forget anytime soon.
Jay, 7, was transported by the Medical Center EMS to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after he was involved in a hit-and-run incident while trick-or-treating, at approximately 7:20 p.m., on Watson Road, Saturday.
Jay’s grandmother, Angela Webb, said Jay was disappointed his Halloween costume had to cut off after he arrived at the hospital with non-life threatening injures.
But that’s where members of Madison County Fire Station No. 11 got involved.
They presented Jay with a new costume and Halloween candy.
A GoFundMe page – https://gf.me/u/y64vuv – has also been set up to help with Jay’s medical expenses.
Madison County Sheriff John Mehr said the investigation is on-going concerning the hit-and-run incident, when Jay was struck by a vehicle while trick-or-treating with his friends.
The vehicle did not slow down or stop.
The Sheriff is asking the public for assistance concerning the vehicle and the person involved.
