A four-year-old child that went missing April 29 for about one hour was found safe by Matt Nierenberger, a deputy with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department and Timo, a K9 search dog.
“I received a phone call around 4 p.m., on Wednesday (April 29) afternoon,” Nierenberger said, “We – me and Timo – immediately responded to the scene on Ranger Road in Beech Bluff, and deployed into the woods at 5:03 p.m.
“At 5:12 p.m., we had the little boy in our arms.”
Matt said additional help came from fellow law enforcement officials.
“The biggest thing that the patrol deputies can do in a situation like that is set up a perimeter and keep family and other rescue workers out of the area, until after we have attempted to locate (the child) with the K9,” Matt said.
Matt has been in law enforcement for 9 1/2 years – five years with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
“Timo is five-years-old, and we have been a team since October 2016,” Matt said.
