JACKSON, Tenn (March 20, 2015) – On Monday and Tuesday, March 16th and 17th, teams from across the state of Tennessee competed online for the Tennessee Academic Decathlon State Championship.
The theme for the 2014-2015 season is “New Alternatives in Energy”.
Normally the competition is held at Austin Peay State University in February, however, due to the weather the competition was canceled and held online at various schools.
Jackson’s own Madison Academic Magnet High School finished in first place for the twelfth year in a row and Liberty Technology Magnet High School finished in third place. At this time the team scores have not been released to the coaches thus we are not able to report overall performance.
The teams focused on the seven major academic subjects of history, language/literature, art, music, science, math, and economics. In addition each student completed an essay based on the year’s theme.
The Madison AD team will represent Tennessee in the United States National Competition in Garden Grove, CA on April 17th– 20th.
