(February 18, 2015) — On Sunday February 8 at approximately 3:45 a.m. Jackson Police responded to an alarm call at Jackson Discount Tobacco and Beer located at 935 N. Highland Ave.
Officers tell us that once on the scene they discovered that someone had gained entry through one of the front windows of the business. Additonally, officers located a lottery ticket dispenser and rolls of lottery tickets in the parking lot of the business.
While searching the area, officers found several loose lottery tickets and large pieces of the plastic lottery ticket dispensers in the grass area between 118 Crescent Ave (Crestview Apartments) at and 124 Crescent Ave.
Officers recovered lottery tickets and pieces of the dispensers and returned them to the business owner after processing them for evidence.
Investigators collected video from the store’s security camera system. The suspect is an unidentified black male wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans, white shoes with dark trim, and a black/white ball cap.
Video and other evidence shows the suspect was seen breaking into the store then walking away for over 30 minutes. He then returns and makes entry into the business where he grabs two large lottery ticket dispensers full of lottery tickets.
According to the police report, the black male then fled the scene carrying the lottery ticket dispensers after dropping some of the items in front of the store.
