JACKSON TN (June 29, 2017) – Madison County Sheriff John Mehr said in the last 24 hours his deputies have responded to an explosion of 13 vehicle burglaries.
Additionally, there have been burglaries of small trailers and lawn mowers.
Chester County Sheriff Blair Weaver said they are “covered up” with the same situation.
Sgt. Mack Brown of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office reported auto burglary complaints starting in the south and working all the way to the north.
Areas involved have been Harts Bridge Road, Odell Road, Deep Gap, Misty Ridge, Crooked Creek, Winter Wood, Cambridge, Seven Oaks, Spring view, Eagle Ridge, Holly Hills, & Clements Dr.
Sheriff Mehr urges citizens to always lock up vehicles. “These criminals are not busting windows anymore, just simply checking the door handles and taking the valuables from even inside your trunk,” said Mehr. All 13 vehicles reported had unlocked doors.
Be smart…..lock your doors. Most of the burglaries are occurring after dark.
