CLEVELAND, Tenn. (AP) — The Cleveland Police Department is investigating the discovery of a Lee University student's body in his car on campus.
The department identified the dead student as 21-year-old Johnathan E. Messer. The cause of his death is under investigation.
The Cleveland Daily Banner reported police responded Monday after a caller to 911 said a man in the back seat of a car was unresponsive. The caller said the man had been drinking and they left him in the car overnight at the married student housing complex for Lee students.
Police Lt. Robert Harbison said Wednesday that other witnesses have told police Messer had consumed alcohol and passed out in the car.
Police said Messer lived in Cleveland.
