The University of Kentucky’s volleyball team won its first National Championship in program history, and the first in the history of the Southeastern Conference, in Omaha, Neb., Saturday.
The Wildcats, who also won the SEC title for the fourth straight year, defeated Texas 3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-22).
Junior Alli Stumler had a career game, finishing with 26 kills with a .471 hit percentage.
NCAA and SEC Player of the Year Madison Lilley was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Championship, capping off her career with 53 assists and 19 digs.
The national title is the second for UK this year. The Wildcats won the NCAA Rifle National Championship.
