From the Jackson Police Department –

Investigators and officers of the Jackson Police Department continue to investigate an early morning shooting that occurred on Friars Point Road (Cherry Grove Apartments) in which nineteen year old Jirah Gregory was killed and an eighteen year old was seriously injured.

On February 24th, around 2:45 a.m., officers of the Jackson Police Department were dispatched to the area of Friars Point Road for a shooting call.

Responding officers located two shooting victims. Both subjects were transported by Emergency Medical Services to local hospitals were one of the gunshot victims was later pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation suggests this was not a random act of violence but a targeted act of violence.
