Jake Wilson, a senior running back and wide receiver for the Trinity Christian Academy Lions, is the NEWS/TALK 101.5 FM & WNWS.COM football ‘Player of the Week,’ presented by Mann’s Wrecker and AJD Metal Designs.com.
Jake helped the Lions celebrate homecoming with a 29-22 win over visting Fairley, when he rushed for 102 yards – two touchdowns – on 16 carries and returned a kick off (2 total, 108 yards) for a touchdown.
“I’m grateful for the award,” said Jake, who also contributed to the win defensively, “I could not have done it without Coach Blake Butler and his great game plan, and especially the (under classmen) – the blocking they did on the line and the corners that enabled me to (run) outside.
“I just want to say ‘thank you’ to them for stepping up.”
Coaches Quote:
“Jake did a great job for us – in really all phases of the game,” said Blake Butler, TCA’s head football coach, “Over 100 yards rushing – three total touchdowns – including a kick return for a touchdown that really energized our team.
“He even came in on defense and made the last tackle on a fourth-down stop to secure the win.
“He had a great game, but overall, we had a lot of guys making plays for us to give us a chance to win against a really talented Fairley team.
“We were really just glad to play a game (last) week … proud of Jake, proud of our team and really encouraged to have this opportunity going into our bye week to run off two wins in a row – and just the effort we’re getting from our guys, right now.”
