JACKSON, TENNESSEE – The Jackson Rotary Club ended the 2020-2021 year by announcing annual contribution amounts to their local community partners and other non-profits at their weekly luncheon meeting in Clayton Hall, First United Methodist Church, in downtown Jackson.

The Club’s community partners include The STAR Center with a $7,500 award, Madison Haywood Development Services with a $7,500 award, and Youth Town with a $3,500 award.

Outgoing President Kristi Turnbow chose three separate organizations for the President’s Choice Award – Keep My Hood Good, The Dream Center, and International Food & Arts Festival.

In May, the Club presented $20,000 in scholarships to 9 area high school graduating seniors. Representatives from each of the recipient organizations will be present at the meeting.

The Jackson Rotary Club has been serving Jackson for 105 years and is Jackson’s largest civic organization. Kristi Turnbow stated, “My goal this year has been to instill a passion throughout the Jackson Rotarians and they have shown that passion by exemplifying our mission – service above self.” The Club fundraises through member pledges and an annual golf tournament.

The 100-member club meets on Wednesdays at noon in downtown Jackson. Further business for the day’s meeting included naming Stan Harris, Rotarian of the Year.

There was also a brief history of the club and a recap of the club’s accomplishments, installation of new board members and officers, and official passing of the gavel to incoming President Russ McKelvey with plans for his upcoming term as president.
