Jackson, TN – On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the Jackson Police Department played a critical role in the swift apprehension of a murder suspect wanted out of Memphis, Tennessee, thanks to the collaborative efforts of JPD officers and technology provided by the Flock Camera System.
Earlier that day, Memphis Police Department officers discovered a woman deceased in her home in the Colonial Acres area of Memphis. The victim’s blue 2020 Chevrolet Camaro was also reported missing from the scene.
Utilizing the Flock Camera System, investigators were able to track the vehicle to Jackson, TN. JPD officers quickly responded to the location and successfully took the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Kerrien Dates, into custody without incident.
Dates was placed on an investigative hold at the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex. As of the morning of June 5, he has been formally charged by the Memphis Police Department with First Degree Murder and Theft of Property.
“This case demonstrates how the strategic use of technology and strong inter-agency collaboration can lead to swift justice,” said Chief of Police Thom Corley. “Our officers acted quickly and professionally to ensure the safety of our community while assisting in the resolution of a violent crime.”
The Jackson Police Department remains committed to protecting the community and working alongside law enforcement partners to bring justice to victims and their families.
