Jackson-Madison County School Chief Academic Officer Resigns, Accepts New Position

(March 16, 2015, Jackson, TN) – Chief Academic Officer of Jackson-Madison County Schools, Dr. Laura Link, announced that she will be leaving the district on April 20th to assume an assistant professor position at Indiana-Purdue University.

Dr. Link joined JMCSS in the summer of 2014 overseeing a number of departments and initiatives in the district. Her primary focus has been ensuring academic excellence and building teacher and leader pathways. Dr. Link will utilize her 25 years of Pre-K -12 experience to serve higher education where she will teach graduate students interested in becoming principals and central office administrators within the Professional Studies department.

Dr. Laura Link will join her husband, Dr. Eric Link, at Indiana-Purdue University. Dr. Eric Link is accepting a promotion to Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; he is currently serving as Associate Dean at the University of Memphis.

“ Laura’s skills, talent, love of research and inquiry and her ability to instruct and organize will serve higher education well as she brings with her such a wealth of knowledge of the Pre-K-12 experience. Her legacy in Jackson-Madison County Schools is an amazingly uncompromising work ethic, excellence in delivery and professional expertise on behalf of high academic excellence for students. She will be missed.” said Superintendent Dr. Verna Ruffin. “

Superintendent Ruffin will begin the search for a permanent replacement over the next month to ensure a seamless transition.
