The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms a 62-year-old male died Dec. 31 due to complications from COVID-19. That brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 142 in Madison County.
The health department received positive test results for 72 more cases of COVID-19. We now have 8,897 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County – 6,846 have recovered.
The newest confirmed cases range from ages 3 to 97.
Our Epidemiology staff is reaching out to these individuals and people who had close contact with these cases.
Twenty-seven Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. Six of those patients are on a ventilator.
