The events in Minneapolis have confirmed the weaponization of whiteness and the criminalization of blackness that has plagued our nation for generations. The murder of Mr. George Floyd, an African-American by four white Minneapolis Police officers, unfortunately is nothing new.
Recently Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and now George Floyd loss their lives due to police misconduct and citizen vigilantism/activists with gun’s. Our criminal justice system is broken in America. Its present structure denies human dignity and further corrupts the good men and women in the law enforcement profession. It has become a clear and present danger to us all.
Criminal Justice Reform is needed, now. Perhaps better candidate recruitment, effective supervision, additional professional training, the development of a citizen review board, smart state and national legislation, etc. We would welcome a broader participation of the white community stepping-up and demanding, along with black and brown brothers and sisters, justice for all, working for a better community together.
