Jackson Energy Authority elects new chair, vice-chairperson

The election of two new officers highlighted Jackson Energy Authority’s monthly board meeting at the Tennergy Building, Thursday.

Monte Jones, community president of Commercial Bank & Trust in Jackson is the new chairman and Pam Finney was selected as the new vice chairperson.

“It’s the first new chairman we’ve had in over 10 years,” said Jim Ferrell, president of Jackson Energy Authority. “Monte Jones will be our new chairman with Ken Marston retiring.
“We’re excited about him taking over that new role and moving forward.”

The board authorized the purchase of a new dump truck for the Wastewater Division, accepting a bid of $109,494.40 from Volunteer International.

Board members also passed a resolution authorizing the funding policy for the Jackson Energy Authority Retiree Health and Life Insurance Plan (OPEB Plan).

The board also passed resolutions that appointed Mechele Williams to the Retirement Plan Administrative Committee and Mike Stegall to the Employee Health Plan Benefits Committee.

Williams and Stegall were appointed to five-year terms.

Through the first five months of 2017, Jackson Energy Authority has an operating cash balance of $80,086,696, with net sales totaling $96,708,541 with a net income of $17,040,619.
