(March 4, 2014) Jackson, Tenn.- The Jackson City Council traditionally has their meeting today, the first Tuesday of the month.
However, snow and icy conditions on the road lingering from Monday have caused the City of Jackson to postpone the March meeting until the 5th of March, a Wednesday.
On the agenda for the meeting is a first reading of a rezoning of a property at 2613 and 2617 North Highland, and the second reading of a rezoning property on the west side of North Highland from Parker Drive.
There are 5 pieces of new business, not counting any budget amendments to be passed or any invoices over $10,000.
The first piece of new business is an update on Disrict 2 from the Community Redevelopment Agency. They will also present a plan of action.
Building Director Tom WInbush will update the council about housing abatement and demolition.
Dave Ralston will update the council on their use of community development funds in regards to housing development and minor home repair.
The council will consider a resolution to honor Billy Schrivner. The resolution would designate a portion of Ridgecrest Road from Dr F.E. Wright Drive to U.S. 70 as “Billy Schrivner Drive”.
The resolution would also name the Oman Arena basketball court “Billy Schrivner Court.”
The Jackson City Council will also decide on board appointments for the Environmental Advisory Appeals Board, the Keep Jackson Beautiful Commission, and the Jackson Transit Authority.
