Jackson Chamber awarded elite accreditation by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce

The Jackson Chamber moved into rarefied air when the organization earned 4-Star Accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Tuesday.

With 7,000 plus chambers in the United States, the Jackson Chamber is now one of only 217 – three percent – with Accreditation.

“Accreditation through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is one of the highest organizational related honors the chamber could receive, and for that we are extremely honored,” said Kyle Spurgeon, president/CEO of the Jackson Chamber, “This distinction validates our commitment to positively influencing our community and benefiting Jackson’s local community.”

To receive accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in their operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs and technology.

Moore Hallmark the executive director, Southeast Region, U.S. Chamber of Commerce presented the award.

“The Accreditation Program defines standards of excellence in chamber planning and performance and shows how they can reach and maintain these goals,” Hallmark said, “It helps chambers measure achievement while recognizing and encouraging chamber members and staff who meet high standards of operation and who contribute effectively to the good of their chambers and communities.”

Jim Ferrell – president/CEO of Jackson Energy Authority, and Chairman of the Board of the Jackson Chamber – reminded those in attendance the Jackson Chamber received a 3-Star Award in 2014.

“I would like to congratulate the chamber and chamber staff for meeting the high standards necessary to be granted the accreditation,” Ferrell said, “The chamber staff goes above and beyond their requirements and this accreditation exemplifies the chamber’s commitment to Jackson.”
