Huddle for Hearts, an initiative spearheaded by Bru McCoy, a wide receiver from the University of Tennessee football team, will be donating an AED for every touchdown scored by McCoy this year.
Among his responsibilities as a student and member of the Tennessee football team, McCoy has made it a point to make Sudden Cardiac Arrest prevention, awareness and treatment a priority.
His goal is to provide AEDs to youth sports organizations, while encouraging other athletes across the country to join with him and become involved in Huddle for Hearts.
“I’m really just inspired to give back to my local community and what better way to give back than by giving away life-saving tools and devices.” said McCoy “Following the on-field collapse of Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin, from Sudden Cardiac Arrest, the significance of CPR and AEDs became even more evident to me.”
In a campaign called “Touchdowns for AEDs,” Huddle for Hearts is partnering with Zoll Medical, Rescue One and Jackson-based Master Medical Equipment.
“This is receiving national coverage, and Jackson-based Master Medical Equipment is proud to represent our community on a national stage,” said Josh Kasper, Director of Marketing at Master Medical Equipment.
