‘It’s all team’ – Colin Jones constructs picnic table to honor memory of late TBI Special Agent; earns Eagle Scout Award

It was perhaps the highest compliment Colin Jones could pay to the late De’ Greaun Frazier.

In turn, Jones will receive the highest compliment afforded a Boy Scout when he receives his Eagle Scout Award after constructing a picnic table for the De’ Greaun ReShun Frazier TBI Crime Laboratory & Regional Headquarters at 350 Smith Lane.

“I was with my aunt one day – Cathy Ferguson – an employee with the TBI,” Jones, a senior at Gateway Christian said, “I asked what was her worst day with the TBI, and she told me about Special Agent De’ Greaun Frazier, and I thought it would be a great idea to make a memorial table for him in his honor for giving his life to service.”

TBI Special Agent De’ Greaun Frazier died in the line of duty during an undercover operation in Jackson, Aug. 9, 2016.

He was hired by the TBI in 2016 and worked in the Drug Investigation Division.

Jones, who has been in scouting six years is a member of Troop 6 at St. Mary’s.

“The table was my first project involving wood,” Jones said, “I definitely would not have made the project, itself, without my uncle Tommy Ferguson, because he’s really smart with all these angles.”

Jones also applauded his grandmother who helped influence his participation in scouting.

“A lot of people think it’s all me, but it’s all team,” Jones said, “At the end of October or the beginning of November – after getting my paper work processed – I will offically be an Eagle Scout.”
