In the future, if you violate parking privileges downtown, it will cost you more.
The Jackson City Council approved an ordinance to Amend Title 15, Chapter 9 pertaining to parking zones, time restrictions and penalties for violations during its monthly meeting at City Hall, Tuesday.
Fines will increase to $10 per offense, and fines of $50 will be levied for a vehicle without a city sticker or tag and no disabled permit.
The First Reading passed by a vote of 7-1.
Also, another First Reading, was the consideration of an ordinance to rezone property located at 236 Oil Well Road from Office Center District to Planned Unit Commercial Development, which passed by a unanimous vote.
The council also voted (6-1-1) to implement eminent domain action to acquire property for improvements on McClellan Road.

A resolution to acquire a facility to allow the city to relocate two sub-departments
A resolution declaring the intent of the City of Jackson to reimburse itself for certain capital expenditures incurred by the Health and Sanitation Fund and Sportsplex fund with proceeds of an eight-year capital outlay note to be issued by the City of Jackson
