Does it get on your nerves when someone says, “I had a feeling they were lying”, or “You know
he just didn’t act right.”
You better pay attention!
This feeling is likely your intuition and it is very real. It is a defense mechanism built into us
generations ago to warn of possible danger. The dangers back then may have been a dinosaur
or a saber tooth tiger.
Of course, in today’s environment our threats are different. The danger may be from a
potential car jacker or robber, or even a car that is approaching from a side road that could pull
out in front of our vehicle.
When our senses gather data regarding things we see, hear, feel, smell, or touch, our brain
immediately analyzes this information and decides if a threat exists. This process happens so
quickly we don’t realize it is taking place, but if our brain thinks there is potential danger, it
warns us.
It gives us a strange sensation.
Some folks call it a “gut feeling.” It is our intuition protecting us.
We may get a warning, and nothing happens. On the other hand, something may happen, and
we don’t get a warning!
Here’s the bottom line. Our gut feelings are not always right, but please don’t ignore them. It’s
not Voodoo, it’s a reasonable, rational reaction by our body to a perceived dangerous situation.
Please don’t ignore that gut feeling!
