JACKSON, Tenn.(May 29, 2015) – Hundreds of runners and walkers laced up their shoes for a cause, the 3rd annual Twilight Run/Walk.

‘Heaven’s Cradle 5K’ Twilight Run raises money that supports grieving families who have lost children at birth.

The Heaven’s Cradle organization was established in 2011 by Gary and Abby Lackey in memory of their son, Davis Arnold Lackey, who was stillborn.

Runners lined West Forest Avenue in the West Tennessee Healthcare Medical Center area for the annual event.

The event is not just a fundraiser but gives those who have lost children and grieving families and way to come together for support.

This is the third year for the ‘Twilight Run’.

The event raised $30,000 this year to help continue the mission of helping families memorialize babies through the Walk to Remember and Serenity Garden.

Funds raised will be used to create private waiting spaces for families who have lost a baby, facilitate special training for clinical staff that work with bereaved families, and provide keepsakes for parents and families.

To make a donation to Heaven’s Cradle, call West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation at 731-984-2140 or donate online. In the designation line, please type Heaven’s Cradle.

The Serenity Garden offers a place of remembrance for families who have lost infants. This hopeful place is located in a serene, grassy setting near the entrance to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and the Hospital’s Labyrinth and Meditation Garden.

Often families who lose babies due to miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth, etc., do not have a place to grieve or a grave to visit. The Serenity Garden gives them a place to grieve and a place to find peace.serenity garden wall WTH

The Garden consists of a commemorative wall with etched names of babies and families. A path flanked by benches for meditation, prayer,
and thought, leads to two statues–a grieving angel and an angel of hope.

To make a donation to the Serenity Garden, call West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation at 731-984-2140 or donate online. In the designation line, please type Serenity Garden.
