JACKSON, Tenn. - According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Liberty High School around 10 a.m. Wednesday and recovered a handgun. Juvenile court authorities say the Liberty Technology Magnet High School student is a 15-year-old ninth grader and was placed under house arrest pending further investigation. According to Public Information Officer Tom Mapes the gun was a .357 magnum revolver. Mapes said another student reported seeing the gun. The principal notified the school resource officer who was able to secure the weapon and remove the student. The incident is still under investigation and investigators do not have a motive. Mapes said the good side of this story, besides no one being hurt, is that “When you see something unusual or dangerous, let law enforcement know and let us come check it out.”.
