Michael Hodum has been named the new head football coach and deputy chief of school at Fayette Ware High School in Somerville.
Hodum leaves Chester County High School, where he served in the same capacity for the last seven years.
He attended University School of Jackson where he played football for Coach Mickey Marley.
Hodum, who played college football at Middle Tennessee State University for four years, began his coaching career at Chester County High School as an assistant in 1993.
In 1996, he took a position as an assistant coach at Haywood High School, before accepting the position as head coach at Trinity Christian Academy.
During his tenure at TCA, the Lions reached the quarterfinal round three times, and his 2010 squad played for a TSSAA Class state title in Cookeville.
According to a press release, Fayette Ware High School had about 45 applicants for the position.
Hodum and wife, Dr. Jill Hodum, also an educator, are the parents of three children – Lacy, Calvin and Cameron.
