The goal to connect Jackson Walk Phase I and the University of Memphis Lambuth becomes reality when High Point Apartments at Jackson Walk welcomes its first tenant November 20.
Located on West Deaderick Street, this expansion will offer 120 new apartments and 40 single-family homes.
Each apartment – furnished or unfurnished – is one-bedroom and the square footage will range from 575- to 660-square-feet.
Rent starts at $815 per month, and each apartment offers a washer and dryer.
“We started on these apartments about five months ago,” said Chris Alexander, vice president of retail and residential sales for Healthy Community LLC. “This is a great next step in the development of the revitalization of downtown Jackson.
“We’re trying to keep up with the demand for those who want to live in a truly walkable community.”
The project is being developed by Memphian Henry Turley and Jackson’s Hal Crocker, who co-developed Jackson Walk Phase I.
“We wanted to extend Jackson Walk to the University of Memphis Lambuth,” Henry Turley said. “One of our objectives from day one has been to reach the University of Memphis Lambuth.”
Alexander said progress has also seen the demolition of blight and the addition of new home construction on Morgan, Wells, Union, West Orleans and West Deaderick Streets – and the renovation of older homes.
“Mario and Jan Irigoyen have renovated at least three homes on West Deaderick,” Alexander said. “They have done an outstanding job of maintaining the charm and character of each​ property.”
