The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms 1,585 Madison County residents received the COVID-19 vaccine Thursday, Jan. 7.
Staff gave 1,563 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to Madison County residents age 75 and older at the Jackson Fairgrounds. We had 22 doses leftover that had to be used before they expired. Those doses went to 22 people on the Rapid Response List.
“We could not have done this without support from our community partners,” Regional Director Kim Tedford said. “West Tennessee Healthcare, Madison County Fire Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson Fire Department, Jackson Police Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tennessee Department of Transportation, Jackson-Madison County Emergency Management Agency, City of Jackson, and Madison County all helped make this event possible.”
Individuals who received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine Thursday will need to return to the Jackson Fairgrounds Jan. 28 to receive a second dose of the vaccine. More details about that vaccination drive-through site and other future vaccination events will be released at a later date.
