Health Department confirms 14th COVID-19 death in Madison County; case count reaches 861

The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department received positive test results for 14 more confirmed cases of COVID-19. We now have 861 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.

An 88-year-old male died Sunday, July 26 due to complications from COVID-19, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 14 in Madison County.

The newest confirmed cases include:

  • 49-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 85-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 56-year-old male (unknown hospitalization)
  • 40-year-old female (unknown hospitalization)
  • 17-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 23-year-old male (not hospitalized)
  • 17-year-old male (not hospitalized)
  • 61-year-old male (unknown hospitalization)
  • 46-year-old female (hospitalized)
  • 49-year-old female (unknown hospitalization)
  • 33-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 69-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 75-year-old female (unknown hospitalization)
  • 66-year-old male (unknown hospitalization)

Our Epidemiology staff is still trying to contact some of these individuals, so hospitalization status is unknown at this time. We are also reaching out to people who had close contact with these cases.

Thirteen Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. One of those patients is on a ventilator.

Six hundred one Madison County residents have recovered from COVID-19, and 40 people say they are feeling better.
