City Councilman Harvey Buchanan is seeking re-election to the Jackson City Council to continue the struggle and push for crime reduction, revitalization, growth and development, infrastructure-face lift, and better city services.
“If re-elected, I will continue to speak up for the interest and concerns of the community,” Harvey Buchanan said. “I enjoy representing the citizens of District Four and the entire City of Jackson. I am committed, ready, willing, and able to press on to help make the City of Jackson a better place to work and live for all of its citizens. I am not resting on past accomplishments because there is still a lot of work and improvements that need to be done in the City of Jackson.”
Councilman Buchanan is married to Sharon Chatman Buchanan and they have two children, Veronica (Clifton) Love and Derrick Buchanan.
They have two grandchildren, Christopher James Love and Jeremiah Love. Councilman Buchanan is a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he serves on the Deacon Board and is a member of the Male Chorus.
Mr. Buchanan is a graduate of Jackson Central Merry High School; graduate of Jackson State Community College with an Associate of Science degree; and a graduate of Lane College with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Mr. Buchanan is currently employed with the State of Tennessee, Workforce Investment Area 11, as the Resource Center Manager.
He has served as the Program Director of Boys and Girls Club of Jackson, and previously owned and operated Buchanan’s Exxon Service Station.
Buchanan was elected City Council Representative for District Four in May 1995.
