Raj Patel and his family made it official when they broke ground on a new SpringHill Suites Marriott at 2407 Christmasville Cove, Thursday.
Located in Park Place West and operated by Cumberland Hospitality, the 95-room hotel is scheduled to open in 12-to-14 months.
“All the rooms will be suites so they will be 25 percent larger than normal rooms,” Raj said. “This is our second project in Jackson, the first being Fairfield Inn and Suites we built off Vann Drive about three years ago. We’ve had great success here so we decided to do another project, and we’re excited to break ground and hope to be open next summer.”
SpringHill Suites Marriott is one of two new hotels are under construction in Park Place West off Dr. F.E. Wright Drive.
Construction continues on Best Western Plus, a 40,000-square-foot hotel that will offer 92 rooms in Park Place West.
Both SpringHill Suites Marriott and Best Western Plus are being built next to Affordable Dentures on Christmasville Cove.
A third hotel, La Quinta Inn and Suites is under construction in Park Place East across from Sky Zone on East Park Square.
