It won’t be until Tuesday – at the earliest – when the Albert A. Stone Jr. Cup Tournament crowns its 12th champion, at Jackson Country Club.
Jeff Manley made it through the first eight holes all even in Sunday’s final round, but play came to a halt because of rain.
Play resumes at hole No. 9 at 9 a.m., Tuesday.
Aaron Ingalls reached the final when he slipped past Cooper Pendergrass 2 & 1, in the their semifinal round.
Ingalls was one up through 14 when he used a 4-iron from 200 yards out on No. 15 just missing an eagle by four-feet.
His putt moved him 2 up.
Jeff Manley earned a shot at the title winning 1 up over Cooper Dunn.
Down three, Dunn surged winning Nos. 14, 15 and 16 to tie the match. Manley won No. 17 with a birdie, and the two halved No. 18.
Leroy Murphy won his third consecutive Senior Stone Cup defeating Chris Simmons 3 & 1,
and Claire Henson, 12, who won the Beverly Pearce Cup, Saturday, played University School of Jackson classmate Cari-Beth Workman in an exhibition.
