Generals remain 1.5 games out of first following loss to Braves

Travis Demeritte’s run-scoring triple in the sixth inning led the Mississippi Braves to a 4-3 win over the Jackson Generals at the Ballpark at Jackson, Saturday.

Josh Taylor (4-4, 4.26 ERA) allowed all four Mississippi runs on five hits in six innings.

The loss snapped a two-game Jackson winning streak, but the Generals remain 1.5 games behind first place Tennessee in the Southern League’s North Division.

The Smokies fell 12-4 to Montgomery, Saturday.

The Generals open a five-game series at Chattanooga, Sunday.
