Generals close out home stand with 8-4 loss to Pensacola

Michael Perez was the lone bright spot for the Jackson Generals, who fell 8-4 to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Wednesday, at the Ballpark at Jackson.

Perez was two-for-four with two RBIs for the Generals, the Double A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Jackson’s Brooks Hall (1-4) went five innings, allowing seven runs and 11 of the 15 (seven doubles) Pensacola (Cincinnati Reds) base hits.

Hall, who saw his earned run average increase to 6.08, struck out one and walked three.

Pensacola’s Eric Jagielo (4-4, two doubles) accounted for two RBIs, and Deck McGuire pitched six scoreless innings as the Blue Wahoos won for the third time in the five-game series.

McGuire (3-2, 2.96 ERA) allowed one hit while striking out three and walking five to pick up the win.

The Generals travel to Montgomery (Tampa Bay Rays, May 18-22) and Jacksonville (Miami Marlins, May 24-28) before returning home May 30, to play the Mississippi Braves (Atlanta Braves).
