Statement from Jackson Generals Chairman David Freeman –
“Our attorneys will address the legal issues. The people of Jackson will address Mayor Conger’s leadership. The Club is going to remain as focused as possible on improving economic impact and quality of life in West Tennessee. We continue to prepare for 2021 pro and college baseball, several 2021 concerts, and the 2022 return of the Jackson Generals.”

“Weeks ago, the team filed an arbitration regarding its’ rights under the existing lease. That is the proper procedure under it.
“For over a year now, continuing through recent days, the team has repeatedly offered significant and beneficial concessions to the City so that it can meet its obligations to the team under the team’s lease.
“Those overtures have been met with the Mayor’s refusal to talk with the team. The team’s management reviewed-with surprise-the attributed comments of “The Office of the Mayor” in its press release yesterday.
“Whomever wrote them is unknown, but what is known is that the team, for months now, has disputed the posturing that the release appears to want to convey, and representatives of the City of Jackson have long known that.
“Until this matter is resolved by the arbitration, or until the Mayor sits down with the team to discuss the issues, the team intends to maximize the economic benefits and entertainment options to the City and West Tennessee residents, which is what the team has done since 2008.”
