Furman University made USJ’s Ryan Miller choice of schools an easy one

Ryan Miller may not have gotten the looks from numerous schools, but Furman University evidently liked what they saw before offering a football scholarship to the 6-1, 200-pound wide receiver, running back and linebacker from the University School of Jackson.

“It came down to Furman and Chattanooga, and I liked (Furman) a lot better,” Miller said. “I committed in November (2017), and there was no thought of changing.”

Projected as a tight end, Miller was one of six players to sign with Furman, Wednesday, bringing the total to 19 signees for the class of 2018.

The six additions join 10 Furman recruits who announced their intentions to play for the Paladins during the NCAA’s December 2017 signing period, and three transfers who joined in the program in January.

“I’m very excited,” Miller said. “We have a lot of skill players … talented, and ready to get to work.”

Miller, a member of the USJ basketball team, said he plans on majoring in sports medicine – Physical Therapy.

Located in Greenville, South Carolina, Furman University is a member of the Southern Conference.
