The 9th annual Firefighters Freedom Festival held at McKellar Sipes Regional Airport is coming up July 4th with food vendors, rides and games for kids, live music, and a spectacular fireworks show.
The event is free to the public and hosted each year by the Madison County Fire Department, which assures that the festival is free to the public through sponsors, without any tax dollars spent.
“It costs around $50,000 to hold the event. We are still a few thousand dollars short,” said Kim Turner, of the MCFD.
Turner says there is still time to become a sponsor for the event, which typically draws around 10,000 to the airport. The Madison County Fire Rescue has a Facebook page for more information on helping to sponsor the event or call Turner at 731-424-5577.
