Freed-Hardeman University Homecoming – celebration begins Friday

Freed-Hardeman University students, alumni and friends will celebrate Homecoming this weekend with numerous activities. Dates, times and places are listed below. The public is invited to attend any or all of these events.

Founders’ Day Celebration/Grand Re-opening of Old Main 2 p.m., Old Main Front Lawn

History of Old Main Presentation with Alumna Erin Adams (’01) 3 p.m., Old Main Classroom 113

Erin Adams, former FHU archivist and now director of education at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage in Nashville, will present the Founders’ Day program.

Class of 1979 Reunion Concert featuring Foxfire and Kid Cruise and the T-birds

Mark Alan Springer, BMI Country Songwriter of the Year in 1998, will present “Behind the Hits” with proceeds to benefit the Lady Lion basketball program.

Pied Pipers 50th Reunion Show

FHU’s Pied Pipers, Company II, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the formation of the troupe with a reunion of former Pipers and introduce the newest members of the troupe. They will join forces for a special show.

Chorale Homecoming Concert

Lion Walk

11:45 a.m., Heritage Commons/Brewer Sports Center Lawn

The Lion and Lady Lion teams, led by the Chester County Marching Band Drum Line, will make their annual walk from the bell tower to the front of the Brewer Sports Center.

Presentation of Kelly B. Doyle Bronze Tribute

Join choral alumni as a bronze tribute to longtime FHU Chorus Director Kelly B. Doyle is unveiled following Chorale’s performance.

Legacy Student Pinning Ceremony

1 p.m., Chapel Hall

Freshmen whose parents or grandparents attended FHU will be pinned by family members as they begin their journey at FHU.

Annual Homecoming Worship Service

Join students, faculty/staff, and alumni for a special time of worship led by students and alumni with a message delivered by President David Shannon.
