Former Jackson Christian and Bethel University football player dies at age 26

Dallas McCarver, a 2009 Jackson Christian graduate and champion bodybuilder has died at age 26, due to strangling on food at his home in Boca Raton, Florida.

McCarver, who played football at Jackson Christian and one season at Bethel University, decided to give up playing football in order to pursue bodybuilding full-time.

At age 20, he won the 2011 NPC Hub City Fitness Quest – junior heavyweight and junior overall trophies.

The same year he won the super heavyweight and overall classes in the NPC Battle at the River.

His third competition was the 2012 IFBB North American Championships, where he was named the super heavyweight and overall champion – becoming the youngest ever overall champion at a national show.

The win also earned him his IFBB pro card, making him the youngest professional bodybuilder in the world.

“The death of Dallas is so sad,” said Phil Campbell, a former Bethel conditioning coach and associate athletic director. “While working with professional body builders is outside of my area of expertise, I worked with Dallas on Speed Technique and fast-fiber E-lifting technique for college football.

“His dad hired me to teach Dallas how to run faster. Dallas worked hard and became very fast for a large athlete, but he told me his love was bodybuilding.”
