Former Jackson businessman arrested following a grand jury indictment

McNAIRY Co. , Tenn. — Former Jackson businessman Barry Bynum has been arrested following a grand jury indictment.

The 58-year-old Bynum was booked into the McNairy County Jail on Thursday after being taken into custody by the Tennessee Highway Patrol Criminal Investigation Division.

Bynum is charged with two counts of theft over $250,000 and two counts of identity theft.

A former insurance agent, Bynum had his license suspended by the state in September after he admitted to to selling unlicensed investment securities. Bynum was also a political Field Rep for congressional candidate Dr George Flinn in the 2016 8th Congressional race.

Bynum will be arraigned in McNairy County Court.
