The wait is almost over.
What was once a dormitory on the campus of Union University – when the school was located in downtown Jackson – has been transformed into an apartment complex, which nears completion at 610 E. College St.
Adrian Del Rio, a businessman from Sacramento, California, renovated the property, which becomes ‘Downtown Union Square Apartments.
The new complex has 26 units – one and two-bedroom apartments -and a leasing office inside the gated complex, which is near the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.
“We’re going through and quality control testing all the units to make sure everything is working plus adding in finishing touches,” Del Rio said. “The management company has compiled a wait list. Our goal is to have a certificate of occupancy by the first week in January – at the latest.
“We really want our tenants to know that this is their home and our mission is to provide them with high quality housing.”
