Freed-Hardeman University put together back-to-back wins in the 2018 NAIA Women’s Basketball Invitational, following a 79-66 win over Shawnee State (Ohio), at Oman Arena, Saturday.
The two-day Invitational was hosted by the Southwest Tennessee Tourism Association.
Freed-Hardeman University 79, Shawnee State (Ohio) 66
Sandrea Sylman hit 11 of her 14 field goal attempts and finished with a team high 29 points in Freed-Hardeman’s win.
Chynia Brooks (16), Haylee Croom (13) and Carrie Hatchel (12), also finished in double figures for the Lady Lions.
Ashton Lovely turned in a team high 29 points for Shawnee State.
Columbia (Missouri) 73, MidAmerica Nazarene (Kansas) 67
Columbia placed four players in double figures and settled its border war with MidAmerica Nazarene.
Morgan Brandt and Jordan Alford scored 13 each, Ashlee Marlatt added 12, and Raegan Wieser contributed 11 for the winners.
Columbia’s Kechelle Figueroa led all scorers with a game-high 20 points.
Vanguard (Calif) 67, Lindenwood-Belleville (Illinois) 57
Victoria Chea scored 15, Sierra Vaglica added 12 and Vanessa Murphy contributed 10 in Vanguard’s win over Lindenwood-Belleville.
Hailey Erdman from Lindenwood-Belleville led all scorers with 18.
Campbellsville (Kentucky) 91, Martin Methodist 75
Savannah Gregory was one of three Campbellsville players to reach double figures.
Gregory scored 18, Madison Stewart 12 and Madison Kaiser added 10 in the win.
Samariah Thompson led Martin Methodist with 16 points.
Talladega (Alabama) 72, Bethel University 66
A 25 point performance by Myah Taylor wasn’t enough as the Lady Wildcats fell short to Talladega.
Brijanee Moore poured in 35 points for the winners, connecting on 10-of-18 from the field, and 13-of-17 from the free throw line.
