JACKSON Tenn (April 7, 2015) – Jackson police have charged 42-year-old Michael John Stitts, 42 in an early morning, domestic-violence related shooting of his ex-girlfriend.
Stitts is currently in custody at the Madison County Jail on charges of especially aggravated burglary, criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder, employing a weapon during the commission of a dangerous felony and felon in possession of a firearm.
At 5:27 a.m. Monday, Officers received a call to 253 Highview Street. Investigators say they determined that Stitts had forced entry into the house and shot his ex-girlfriend.
Stitts was quickly arrested by JPD officers near the scene. The victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.
