MADISON County, TN (July 6, 2017) – John Kevin Phillips, a/k/a Uncle Kev, Uncle Kevin, and Puffy K admitted to threatening a Federal Drug Enforcement Agent and his family following a raid at Preventagenix Clinic, Jackson Tennessee.

In court documents, prosecutors name Jeff Young II and describe him as Phillips’ best friend, and say the two can be seen in many social media photos together. Young’s clinic, Preventagenix, and his home, were the subject of search warrant raids in January 2017. Prosecutors say that as a result of the raid, on February 24, 2017, Phillips sent Kristie Gutgsell, the former clinic office manager, a series of text messages.  These text messages contained threats to the DEA Special Agent in charge of the operation. Court documents also state that Phillips was dating pharmaceutical representative Angela Hazelhurst and that her property was searched by Phillips looking for the agent’s telephone number.

In the texts Kevin Phillips makes multiple threats to do physical harm to the agent and his family. Phillips was charged with retaliation.

Kevin Phillips was arrested on February 25, 2017 and has remained in custody since that time.

Authorities say Philips read the 8 page plea agreement including the investigation facts, and agreed to the terms.

Both sides agree to recommend four months of imprisonment, which Phillips has already served as of July 3, 2017. Phillips will be placed in supervised probation for three years.

Phillips agrees to forfeit any property seized from him on his arrest, he will not possess a firearm. Phillips will not have contact with Jeff Young II or Kristie Gutgsell. He also agrees to write a letter of apology to the agent and his family.

According to the court documents the investigation into Jeff Young II and Preventigenix is ongoing.
