From Dr. Frank McMeen, candidate for the Jackson City Council’s 5th district.
The Jackson City Council’s 5th district is a diverse part of the Jackson community.
McMeen was part of the organizers in the formation of the Lambuth Area Neighborhood Association (LANA, which is now in its 30th year) and served nine terms as its President.
LANA’s purpose has been working to maintain safe neighborhoods, improve property values and support diversity of neighborhoods. He has renovated 12 homes/buildings in Midtown and Downtown Jackson.
In addition to his service with LANA, he served as Chair of Jackson’s Historical Zoning Board for seven terms, President and Vice President of Tennessee’s oldest historic preservation organization, the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities (two terms each). He currently serves as Treasurer of the Tennessee Dental Association Foundation and previously served as the organization’s Secretary.
Locally he has served on the Board of Directors for Aspell Recovery, the Jackson Symphony, and currently the Boys and Girls Club.
He is President of the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation where he has been since 1998.
Previously he was Vice President of University Advancement at Freed-Hardeman, President of Columbia Academy and Executive Director of the Christian Student Center in Cleveland, TN.
He has served as a youth minister and minister and is the author of “Let Me Tell You a Story, Finding Hope in a Hopeless World” and is working on his second book.
Frank received his AA and BA from Freed-Hardeman University, Master’s and Doctorate from the University of Memphis. He has been an adjunct professor at the University of Memphis and Freed-Hardeman University and taught at Jackson Christian. He attends the Skyline Church.
Dr. Vicki Lake serves as his Campaign Treasurer.
