Region 6 seems to be a two-team race in Riverside and Lewis County. However, that doesn’t mean the rest of the division can’t make strides to lessen the gap between the region.
Adamsville
Brandon Gray, Head Coach
2021 Record (4-7 Overall, 2-3 District)
Preview: The Cardinals’ finished the 2021 season with a sub-par 4-7 record. They lacked signature wins throughout the year, never truly holding a candle to the better teams in the region. Adamsville went 2-3 in region play. Last season the offense struggled and defense was lackluster giving up 30 points. Defense seems to be the most crucial hole to fill going into the 2022 season.
Scott’s Hill
Rennard Woodmore, Head Coach
2021 Record (3-7 Overall, 1-4 District)
Preview: Well, there’s no easy way to stomach a 3-7 season. A struggling offense and sometimes non-existent defensive attack resulted in the Lions’ closest loss being 21 points. Also, they only one game within one possession all season. Looking towards 2022 competitiveness will have to be the focus for this Scott’s Hill team. Â
Riverside
Johnnie Frost, Head Coach
2021 Record (12-2 Overall, 5-0 District)
Preview: Coach Frost returns a great team after a stellar 12-2 season. The Panthers lost in semis for second time in 4 years to Westview. The Panthers will certainly look to bring out a dominant offensive attack and suffocating defense in the 2022 season.
East Hickman
Chris Austin, Head Coach
2021 Record (7-3 Overall, 3-2 District)
Preview: An Impressive record of 7-3 is a great building block for this Eagles’ team. This Eagles’ team put up a stellar 31.6 points per game, but they gave up 25.3. If they can clean up the defensive side of the ball, they will look to take the next step as a football program this year.
Hickman
Rodger McDonald, Head Coach
2021 Record (4-6 Overall, 0-5 District)
Preview: This team at face value looks to be somewhat of an anomaly. After starting 2-0 they lost 6 of final 8 games, while going winless in District play. The Bulldogs’ will need to improve defensively if the want their fortunes to change in 2022. Â
Lewis County
Barry Churchwell, Head Coach
2021 Record (8-4 Overall, 4-1 District0
Preview: The Panthers’ rode strong a defense to an 8-4 season. If they play their cards correctly and make the adjustments necessary, they look to be biggest threat to Riverside in the region.
