Derek Carr named new head football coach at Lexington High School

Henderson County Schools proudly announces Derek Carr as its new head football coach at Lexington High School.

Coach Carr, who is leaving Milan as head coach of the Bulldogs, is a 2008 graduate of McKenzie High School.

He played quarterback at the University of Tennessee Martin from 2008-2012.

His coaching career began as a graduate assistant at UT Martin.

He has since served as a wide receiver coach and offensive coordinator at Temple University, Tennessee Tech, South Side High School and Milan High School.

He was the head football coach at Milan High School for the past two seasons.

Coach Carr is a member of the Hall of Fame at UT Martin and the Carroll County Sports Hall of Fame.

He coached under Matt Rhule (current Nebraska head football coach) at Temple, with Marcus Satterfield (Nebraska offensive coordinator) at Tennessee Tech, and Jason Simpson at UT Martin.

Derek and wife Shelby, have two children – Landry and Bryson.
