James Martin, a deputy with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, was named the Jackson Exchange Club’s Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, during a luncheon at the DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton, today.
A relatively new hire with the Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Martin wasted no time making an impact in the community, according to Sergeant Michael Turner, who submitted the nomination.
Since January 1, Deputy Martin has made 65 self-initiated probable cause arrests – as of September 1.
While the number is impressive, it is important to note that it does not include the number of arrests he has cited in lieu of arrests.
Deputy Martin’s most recent arrest was made during a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 70 West.
During this traffic stop, Deputy Martin located 6.3 ounces of Methamphetamine.
His work ethic and steadfast dedication to duty are in keeping with the highest standards of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and worthy of recognition of Employee of the month.
