With construction complete, the area landscaped and a circular drive added, ‘The Cross’ was dedicated Sunday.
“It’s been a wonderful day, and we had a nice crowd,” Norwood Jones said. “This is a blessing to me and to all of this community.”
‘The Cross’ is located on property owned by Norwood between U.S. Highway 412 and Old Bells Highway.
Norwood, a retired Jackson businessman, had ‘The Cross’ constructed with materials – about 250 bricks – he and friends collected from around the world.
Welcome to the Cross
This is a collection of bricks that came from my visits – and friends visits – from all over the world during the past 40 years. I really had no idea as to what I would do with them other than stack them in my garage. The first of the year when making my goals for 2017 it came to me that I should build this cross on some property I’ve owned on Highway 412 and Old Bells Highway.
Dedicated to the God of Love and my dear wife, Joyce, since August 17, 1951 – Norwood Jones
