From the Jackson Fire Department –

JACKSON, Tenn. – On February 6, 2022, at 2:27 a.m. the Jackson Fire Department received a report of a structure fire at 21 Brenda Lane in South Jackson.

Upon arrival, our personnel found that the structure was fully involved. After fire suppression operations, our personnel discovered a deceased victim inside the structure.

The victim was identified as 96-year-old Raftus Thomas. A second occupant escaped the structure and suffered minor burn injuries to her leg.

At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
