The instant Caty Davis was named the new Miss Tennessee, Saturday, at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, any previous plans she had were put on hold, according to the pageant’s president, Jimmy Exum.
“Everything changes,” Exum said. “Eighty percent of everything she does will be in preparation for the Miss America Pageant in September.”
Davis, a 2017 graduate of the University of Tennessee Knoxville with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, had intentions of attending graduate school.
The Knoxville native entered the 65th annual Miss Tennessee Scholarship Pageant as Miss Lexington.
“She will be living and working out of Nashville,” Exum said. “She will be the Governor’s representative for the education system. She will do some event work which will help her in her preparation for the Miss America Pageant, but the program will not begin until fall when school begins.”
Davis, who won $13,000 in scholarships, was one of 36 women competing for the title.
Miss Scenic City, Christine Williamson was named first runner-up, and she was followed by second runner-up Miss Collierville, Amber Reed.
Miss Tennessee Waltz, Brianna Mason was the third runner-up, and Miss Nashville, Hannah Bobinger, was fourth runner-up.
