JACKSON, Tenn. – – Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and
the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department have made an arrest in connection
with an attempted murder investigation.
TBI Special Agents, at the request of 28th District Attorney General Garry
Brown, joined Crockett County deputies in investigating the August 17th
shooting of 29-year-old Jeffrey Long.
The victim was shot inside his residence along Highway 189 in Friendship.
On Tuesday, 26-year-old Katie Vaile, of Bells was located in a motel in
Brownsville, Tennessee, and was taken into custody by TBI Agents and U.S.
Marshals. Vaile’ s was arrested and charged with the shooting .
Vaile is charged with Attempted First Degree Murder. She is being held in
the Crockett County Jail on a $550,000 bond.
